Virtual access to healthcare professionals and your personal medical information is quickly becoming the new normal. From connecting women with healthcare providers, to helping them stay on top of their breast exams, startups see no boundaries when it comes to designing apps that address health issues facing women. Here are some of the latest designed to help women track and monitor their health:
Maven — The Digital Clinic for Women
Maven, a tele-health app, was designed to make health easier for women by allowing users to video chat with OB-GYNs, midwives, lactation consultants and other women’s health specialists.
From connecting patients with health care providers who specialize in women and children’s health, Maven allows women to schedule virtual appointments and video chat with the practitioner of their choice. In three simple steps here’s how it works:
- Enter what kind of care you need. Then based on the specifics entered, you can choose from one of several providers recommended by Maven. Typically, providers include bios and some even have videos.
- Book a video appointment and meet face-to-face with your provider via Maven app, in real time.
- Follow up on your own terms. Get post appointment notes from your provider and easily schedule another appointment.
Maven is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Period Tracker
In two simple words, the app does what is says. Period Tracker not only gives you an easy way to keep up with your menstrual cycle– it predicts when you’ll get your next period, and when you’re most fertile.
If you’re trying to avoid pregnancy or having trouble getting pregnant, this app might be worth checking out. Â Glow is an ovulation calculator that also records your period, mood, symptoms, sex, and medications.
Reportedly since it’s initial launch Glow has helped 20,000 of its users successfully conceive a baby naturally. Here’s how it works: Glow asks users to enter their menstrual cycles and daily health information, such as stress levels, cervical position, smoking and alcohol intake, etc. As a result, Glow predicts your fertility peak and provides daily advice tailored to your body. The app also allows you to sync with other health apps like MyFitnessPal and Google Fit and provides fertility treatment support for IVF or IUI patients.
Additional features include access to a community forum, a period log, daily health tips, and fertility chart, reminders and cycle overview.
Glow is available for iPhone and Android.
