Founded by R.H. Boyd, Preston Taylor, and J.C. Napier in 1904, Citizens Savings Bank & Trust Co. is the second oldest black-owned and operated bank in the U.S. The Nashville-based firm also holds the distinction of being the first black-owned bank in Tennessee; and the fifth largest BE Bank headed by a woman.
The bank specializes in church lending, mortgage lending, small business lending, and financial services. In 2008, the bank reported assets totaling $68.9 million–down 13.2% from the previous year.
