The photo-sharing mobile app Instagram is no longer exclusive to iOS devices. The free to download application is now available for Android users, too.
The Instagram team has reportedly been working tirelessly to deliver the same look and feel iOS users have experienced since the app’s launch in 2010. “We’ve put an incredible amount of effort into this app to make a first-class experience for Android users everywhere,†said Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom.
While you’ll find the same filters and community as the iOS version, there are a few differences. Â The first edition does not include Tilt Shift/Blur, Share from Feed, Live Preview and Share to Flickr, but the company is working to lessen the differences with the release of newer versions.
There are more than 30 million people on Instagram to date. Since Instagram for Android opened pre-registration on March 25, over 430,000 people signed up for the app.
The app is available for phones using Android 2.2 or above with support for OpenGL ES 2. Instagram for Android can be found in the Play Market (formerly known as Android Market).
