Highland Community Bank is the third largest black-owned commercial bank in Illinois. The Chicago-based bank was founded by George R. Brokemond in 1970. Since its inception, the bank has acquired two additional branches in the Sheldon Heights and Englewood communities of Chicago.
In 2008, the firm reported assets totaling $111.7 million—up 9.9% from the previous year.
