In honor of Women’s History Month, here are ten black women-owned tech startups that are truly innovative:
1. Amanda Spann and Sheena Allen
Startup Name: AlchomyÂ
Spann and Allen are the co-founders of Alchomy, a cocktail recipe and bar locator app. If you’re looking to stay closer to home, Alchomy gives you access to over 16,000 drink recipes. If you’re looking to go out, Alchomy has a bar locator to help you uncover the best bars near you.

2. Rachel Harsley
Startup Name: Clean Slate Messenger anner ampforwp-incontent-ad1">
Dubbed, “The White Board of Messaging,†Clean Slate Messenger†lets a message sender and recipient share then remove any messages and pics from both phones after they’re sent. Harsely, who is currently working on her Ph.D. in computer science, built the app herself.
3. Esosa Ighodaro
Startup Name: CoSign
Ighodaro is the co-founder of CoSign, an app that allows users to “tag” items within content they upload to social networking sites. If their followers purchase the items, users receive a monetary reward.
4. Dziffa Akua Ametam
Startup Name: Dziffa.com
Ametam is the founder of Dziffa.com, an online market that provides global consumers demanding quality and authentic Afrocentric goods, direct access to products from the Motherland.
5. Aja Atwood
Atwood is the co-founder of a very early stage agricultural-tech startup called Everblume. It is a solution for growing fresh produce, plants with medicinal properties, and even hard to find superfoods can now be grown in the privacy of your own home with the Everblume automated grow box and accompanying app.
6. Mary Farrow
Startup Name: Gramsly
Farrow is the founder of Gramsly, an online service for sending customized care packages to seniors. The MIT and Harvard graduate said, “I was inspired to start Gramsly because of my relationship with my grandparents.
7. Jessica Pritchett
Startup Name: LOVR
Pritchett created the “indie beauty app,†LOVR. It is an app designed for iOS as a highly curated beauty marketplace to find and buy fabulous indie beauty products that you won’t find anywhere else.
8. Courtney Caldwell
Startup Name: ShearShare
Caldwell is the co-founder of ShearShare, a beauty services app that is making a lot of buzz in the tech startup circle.
ShearShare connects salon and barbershop owners to individual cosmetologists and professional stylists to fill unused salon suites and booths on a temporary basis.
9. Regina Gwynn and Octavia Pickett-Blakely
Startup Name: Tresse Noire
Gwynn and Pickett-Blakely are the co-founders of Tresse Noire, an app that is used to schedule an appointment with well-vetted, credentialed natural haircare stylists who will come to your home or office.
10. Maureen Erokwu
Startup Name: Vosmap
Maureen Erokwu is a Google Maps Business View team member who has expanded StreetView for Businesses with Vosmap, a marketing tool that allows customers to explore, walk-through, and experience a business like never before.
