The Sistahs in Business Expo Celebrates Entrepreneurial Women of Color
The Sistahs in Business Expo (SIBEXPO), founded by entrepreneur and ordained minister Aisha Taylor Issah, made its debut in Newark, New Jersey, on April 14, 2018, at the Ramada Plaza. Guests began lining up on as early as 7:30 AM and experienced a phenomenal day of inspiration, motivation, knowledge, networking, and business growth.
The expo saw over 700 attendees throughout the day and featured 70+ vendors; keynote speakers MC Lyte & Dr. Lynn Richardson; a guest appearance by Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka; the SuperPower Panel of hugely successful entrepreneurial women of color; and a motivational talk with corporate executive and motivational speaker Dorinda Walker. The hosts for the day were Jasmine Sanders (co-host of the D.L. Hughley Show) and Toya Beasley (Gospel radio veteran).
The SIBEXPO in Newark was proud to partner with Radio 103.9 New York (home of the nationally syndicated D.L. Hughley and Tom Joyner shows) as their official radio partner. Other sponsors included Merrill Lynch, Valley National Bank, State Farm, New York Life, and the New Jersey Sharing Network. We are also proud to have Black Enterprise as a media partner for our 2018 tour.
The room was filled with women (and a sprinkle of men) who were eager to learn more about building and sustaining businesses, and also supporting the many small business owners who were vending. The attendees also walked away with their spirits being filled with truth, a better understanding of purpose, self-worth, and learning how to believe in themselves.
The expos tagline is “Celebrating Entrepreneurial Women of Color” and the celebration has just begun! The expo is headed to Philadelphia on July 14, followed by Columbia, South Carolina, on Aug. 11, and Atlanta on Oct. 13.
